What a fun design! That is not what most people will say about their grass after waking up one morning and seeing this. Warm season grasses can look like this after a frost in the spring or fall. In the fall the rest of the grass will turn brown as it normally does. In the Spring the brown grass will recuperate and turn green again. Don’t think you can solve this issue by fertilizing early, keep to your normal fertilizer plan. If you fertilize out of season it could encourage fungus growth or pest problems. At the very least, you won’t be wasting money. We recommend you just leave your grass alone and it will fix itself. But don't forget to take a picture of this really fun damage!
